In a surprising crossover event that breaks traditional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Disclosed

According to the authorized announcement, "A strange meeting pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where hints of forbidden practices and fearsome metamorphoses reverberate through the shadows." The storyline presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine sect.

The adventure focuses on "peculiar trials and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses

The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer concludes with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Prizes and Extra Content

Players who successfully complete the adventure will acquire an unique katana together with numerous artifacts concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique arms
• Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Addition

This update also adds the game's newest no-cost story episode, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic techniques: Naoe introduces a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Previous Japanese Animation Crossovers

This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime properties. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly included a quest that unmistakably referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
